I posted on the truck forum but wanted to ask here also.
This is a heavy old farm dump truck.
Ran it a few hours today with no problems. The air gage usually runs at 100-120 PSI but today it has started popping off at 60-70 PSI. There is a tank over the rear axles with a pop off valve.
I bled all of the tanks and found quite a bit of moisture-bled that off but it is still popping off.
Any help[ would be appreciated.

If you air pressure is within limits,90-125#,and only the one tank keeps blowing off,you probably have a dirty,or bad pop off. You are supposed to drain the water every time you park the truck at the end of the day. It will save you alot of trouble with rusted fittings, frozen brakes and lines, not to mention the fact that the brakes function alot better water free.

First off, don't keep trusting the gauge. Plumb another one in and see what the pressure really is. The gauge is more likely to go bad than the popoff valve.

If the pressure proves to truely be low, There isn't much else it could be but the popoff valve decided to get weak on you. Bleed it down and removed it and if you don't see anything apparent, I'd replace it.

Hello Charles
thanks for lthe help here is what I have found. The truck has 4 air tanks the one on the rear of the truck was the one popping off. I checked the pressure with a gage it was high--the hose from this tank goes towards the front of the truck to a canister that sits upright it also has a pop off valve. For some reason this canister wasn't letting the air thru it. Also the back tank had a lot of water in it.
It is working now but not sure what was done to correct the problem.
Thinking the canister-don't know the name of it- was blocking the air from going thru it.
Any more help would be appreciated.
thanks len in michigan

lenray, your pop-off valve is not bad, that valve that is releasing is a automatic bleeder valve to release moisture from the tanks. the canistor you are talking about is a dryier. it is probably bad. if there is miore than 5cc of moisture in the system then it is bad i would replace it first. the desicant in side probably broke down good luck.tractor

That upright cannister may be an air dryer, most likely a bendix AD2. The air from the compressor goes through the air dryer to the wet tank and then to the supply and emergency reservoirs.
You may want to go to the Bendix Air Brake website and down load the air brake diagram as well as check out the troubleshoting guide.
