Parts Cleaning Solvent

I have a tank with a pump and currently run Diesel in it for cleaning. With winter just around the bend, I'm nervous about Diesel fumes and Shop Heater.

Is there a decent solvent available that doesn't go BOOM? and doesn't cost an arm or leg?

Pete: you might try some automatic transmission fluid and Castrol Super Clean. have told super clean and water work good, have not tried it.

Are you talking about mixing ATF and Super Clean together? What proportions? I once tried making a cleaner by mixing mineral spirits with Wisk liquid laundry detergent, it sort of worked but the two would separate after standing about 15 minutes.
