Motor selction for quincy compressor

I have a quincy comp. that orginally had a 10 hp koler gas engine. I want to convert it to electric. I need a 5 hp single phase. Can any one help me with the selection. I do not know what the frame is when you are looking at motors. This comp. is a no load start comp. The comp. has a 14 in sheave. The comp. needs to turn between 400 and 900 rpms. I think the motor needs to turn around 1740 rpms. I know harbofreight has an 5 hp for about 90 bucks but that must be a low quality motor. Thanks in advance for any help. You need a 184 -T frame 1725-1740 r.p.m. motor. Most likely the $90.00 motor is a 3450 r.p.m. 56-frame which is really about a 1&1/2 H.P. [15 amps]..The true 5 Horse will be 22 0r 24 amps. Should cost $200 to $250.With this motor you'll PROBABLY need a starter.You can take your flyweheel size and motor R.P.M. and find the motor pulley size. I THINK it may be 4-to 5 ? inches.Don't claim to know a lot,just have learned a lot the hard way.

I did the same thing to my comp. I got one from harbor it was a 6Hp comp duty and its been on there for almost 10 years now. The 5 HP your talking about should work well for you as long as its comp duty.
