Lincoln or Miller Welders

I'm looking at buying a couple new welders. A Lincoln Ranger 10K or a Miller Bobcat 250, for backup power and on sight welding. Along with a Millermatic 210 or Lincoln 215 mig for shop fab work. I have always had Lincolns, but you see more Millers these days. Any pros or cons either way???

I have Ranger 250. Really nice unit. Go to Lincoln web site and see the difference between the Ranger 250 bead and the Miller 250 bead. Get the Kohler engine.

I say go with the Lincoln. Unless Miller has improved in the past few years. They will not hold consistent amprege while welding.

I have a Ranger 8. The only difference between the 8 and 10 are the generaters. The 8 being an 8000 watt and the 10 being 10,000.

The gasoline driven Hobarts are the same welder as the Lincolns. Everything is the same except for Hobart uses Onan engines some some models and a different color paint scheme.

I believe you meant to say that Hobart and Miller are the same. Same company makes both.

In the field I run two Lincoln Ranger 250's, cheaper, quieter than the Millers, and a smoother arc. As for the wire feeders, those are actually 180's, so I wouldn't touch them, go with either the 251 Miller or the 255 Lincoln, my preference given to the Lincoln. HTH

I've run Millers, Lincolns, Hobarts, Marquettes and Forneys....they all did the job without a whimper. Right now I've got a Miller 225 buzz box, a Forney 225 AC, a Lincoln SP 100 and a Lincoln SA 200...they all get it done and have for years.

They are all good machines. I am partial to the Miller Bobcat 250 though. Either of the wire feeds are good, the Miller will take more field abuse it seema to me. Just my 2cents.
