Looking to get a small chain saw to carry in a scabbard on my tractor. Any of you have a particular favorite?

Mudstruck,

I have a Husky 335, their small limbing saw. I found it to have more power than my Homelite, Echo, and Sthil small saws. It's about 5 or 6 years old, goes on the dozer, backhoe, 4-wheeler, and in trees with me. It never floods out, runs upside down and sideways with out any flooding or power cutting out. I also found it to be the best balance and the easiest to use with 1 hand - for my liking. It does cost more, think I paid around $300, don't know what they are now though. My 2 cents... -Mark

G3800-16 Redmax. good powerful dependable little saw. Not a top handle saw, but it is lightweight and you can cut up anything ya run into within reason. Sells for about 239.99 or G3100-14-top handle saw, sells for 209.99. these are the best little saws I have ever used or sold

I have a Craftsman I picked up before I needed a "real" saw. I figured for the price it was almost like a disposable but it has seen quite a bit of hard duty & still starts right up. Doesn't have the power for big logs but works great off the tractor & I always have it with me. The real saw sits in the shed most of the time.

Do yourself a favor and get the small Echo top handle, rugged, good price and it always starts.

I love the top handle Echo 14", CS3401 or CS301. May not be the same model in your land due to emission features. Light enough for one hand. Around $200 at HD.

Caution: always hold saw with both hands.

Stihl 025. Ditto what Slowpoke said, always use both hands on the saw.

I think them small Homelites are hard to beat. Cut with the best of them and tough.
