I have a perkins "354" 6 cylinder turbo deisel
and i would like to put it in my 1952 International pickup. the perkins engine is actually lighter and slightly smaller too so fit ment isn't a problem. What I would like to know is if anyone knows where to get a set of engine mounts and any information on bellhousing and transmission attachment. I was figuring on using a GM school bus 5 speed tranny but I'm not sure how to get it to bolt up to bellhousing. since the truck is a daily worker/driver I would like to get a conversion kit to minimize the amount of downtime. Any information or links etc. is greatly appreciated.thanks
Lorne

If I recall correctly, International had the Perkins as an option in its Scout Line near the end of its production, as well as Dodge used it in its early pickups and Ford used the 4 cylinder in the Ranger PU. I have done a few conversions, like a Ford 302 into a Land Rover, best way to do engine mounts is to get the engine in the body and make ones from scratch, being sure to use a rubber isolator. Usually bell house mounts are fairly standard in Perkins engines, so make a paper sample of the bolt pattern and go looking at truck transmissions. Make sure the tranny can take the torque of the engine. Hope this helps some.

thanks for the help, i figured i would have to make my own mounts anyways, but it sure would've been nice if a kit existed!
