Any recommendations on a book that will let me get the most out of an oxy/acetylene setup? I think I'm looking for something that would allow me to learn safe and effective heating, cutting, brazing, and gas welding.

Thanks,
Jerry

Hi Jerry,
If you send me your mailing address, I'll be glad to send you a nice little book from Victor that is really handy. Heck, I'd even send one to Fred and I don't even like him :). I did borrow his rock shield a time or two though. Anyway, it's full of good info on cutting, brazing, etc. Won't cost you a dime. Steve

Any good welding book will start with oxy-acetylene. I was just looking thru "Welder's handbook" from HPBooks and written by Richard Finch and Tom Monroe. ISBN is 0-89586-257-3. You might ask your local library if they can get it for you. I thought the gas section looked good as I went thru it. You'd need to run the torch and follow the welds thru to get good. Cost you the Gas, Rods and Brazing rods.
