When making tractor parts do manufactures use files in this process. If so do they throw away the files used in this process. I work for a company that sharpens dull files & was wondering if there is a market for our services in the tractor industry.

Thier business website explains the process, liquid honing. However John has not read the YT advertiser rules explained on the main page link.

I just wanted the word to get out that you don't need to throw away dull files. Please accept my apology for adding in the information of our company. I thought this information might be interesting to your readers.

No apology necessary John. I knew from reading your topic you didn't know the website rules, that's why I worded it that way. I found your company quite interesting, there's not many such business' around today. When I worked in this one toolroom I would wear out about 3 files daily building this particular pour mold. I tried all the mechanical methods available, but hand filing resulted in a superior job. Perhaps that's one reason my shoulders are in such bad condition today.

I forgot to add that you may accomplish the same thing if time is not an issue with vinegar, a glass jug, and about a month of treatment. File sharpening was discussed here about 6 months ago, with many possible methods offered.

Thanks Ray. I did a search of the archives and found the many chemical alternatives. New method to me. Here I was wondering how they could restore the files using some mechanical method, and why that method would be cheaper than buying a new file. Now if I were a missionary out in the boonies and needed a file cleaned and maybe had some rotten apples... Maybe then.
