Where would I find the tools to remove and recrimp the plastic tanks on the new-type raditors. Thank you Ed

You might check with the local radiator repair shop. I'm not even sure if they do that any more! I think they just replace the radiator! Getting the seal tight is the biggest problem. A friend of mine said its too much of a hassle to do that! Rusty Jones

My GM manual says to use vice grips, to stop leaks. Most common problem is a cracked tank. On my pickup I just had radiator place replace the top tank -- new tank and gasket and core rodded for $91, I didn't think that was too bad. I don't know how he crimped the clamps.

A good radiator shop still does that. My nephew managed one here in OR. replaced mine on 95 Chev 3/4 T pickup couple years ago. I watched him do it, don't remember any special tools to crimp to new tanks on. Check with the shop Monday and post info.
