Several months ago I made the mistake of picking up a clearanced pressure washer from Home Depot..1500PSi, it claimed..
It would work to wash dirty pickups, but it was a wimp when it came to cleaning up the tractors I am working on.. Today I got to borrow a buddy's 4000 PSI Hotsy which doesn't even have the heating coil in it at the moment.Just set up as a cold water pressure washer. This thing is a cleaning fool! I stripped several layers of paint off my 9N using oven cleaner and the Hotsy in no more than 2 hours. Got it down to bare castings in many places. It was kinda neat to see how many different colors it had been painted over the years... Anyone want a good deal on a 1500 Psi unit?
Moral of the story..just like there is no substitute for cubic inches, there is no substitute for PSI on pressure washers. Save your money and get a serious one, or rent one. The little guys just aren't worth it.

I concur. I decided to save money by collecting stuff to wash, and rent a washer for a day from time to time. Wish now I had gone ahead and bought one.

Used a Hotsy 4000psi unit 25 years ago. It had a water heater and detergent dispensor.

It was so much fun that I would have cleaned all vehicles in the city for the enjoyment of how well it operated.
