I cannot find a source for the old-time pitcher with the spring-loaded spout that you poked into battery openings to dispense water and not spill it. Seems like anyone under 50 doesn't know anything about those handy things. Can someone help me with a source, please

Leo, Grainger has them. Click below and see if this is what you are looking for. I also bet NAPA would have them or could order you one. Dave

I would bet Napa, or other major auto parts places still have them in the catalogs. You mean you still find batteries with lift off caps!! I see one in 20 that I can still keep filled.

McMaster-Carr Supply Co. has a couple of different kinds plus lots of other battery servicing and support gear. Try page 709, Catalog #106. It is online at:

www.mcmaster.com

Search for 'Battery Filler'.

McMaster takes CCs & usually ships same day from stock. Note that virtually everything they have is industrial grade. Almost no foreign/cheap goods.

"Sealed" battery caps are almost always removable. Just gently pry up on the ganged cap. I serviced a couple of them this week that had gone too long without water. Adding water & charging these batteries brought them back to life. The battery salesman had told my neighbor that she would have to replace the battery. A little TLC, and it checks just fine.

Makes you wonder how many good batteries are scrapped when all they need is a little water, just because people believe they are 'sealed'!
