The dovetail on my 18' trailer is 2', it only has about a 4" drop from the flat deck, no idea what that angle works out to.

Good luck,

Scott

I am in the process of doing the same thing. I made a gauge of my brother-in-laws trailer. Just two strips of wood nailed at the correct angle. Crude but worked ok. I have the dove tail just about finished. Used 2"x2" angle spaced every 6"on the dove tail instead of wood. With the price of new steel, it gets a little pricey.

most are 5' long... angle is determined by the height of the trailer. If you'll be including flip down ramps, generally the combined length of the ramps and the dove would be about 10' ... the angle will be that from the top of the trailer to the ground over a ten foot run.
