Does anyone know the age of my Craftsman Floor Model Drill Press, model 101.03600? I believe it's around 1941?

Jim-- where did you find the model number on your drill press? I looked at ours (we have two old Craftsmen drill presses, one floor-standing and one bench-top, both over 60 years old) but I couldn't find the number anywhere. Ours have a gray body with a silver band that stretches from the front and around both sides, and it says on the front in the middle: Sears, Roebuck, & Company. REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. Made by King-Seeley Corporation. It has three handles on the side for moving the chuck down, and the knobs are are reddish-purple color. The table on it is adjusted by loosening a bolt at the back and sliding it up and down on a pole. (Down is easy, but up will drive you nuts!) Does this sound like your drill press? Just wondering...

Nathan - the model number on my drill press is on a plate on the back side of the base (floor model). Your drill press sounds a little new than mine, based upon your description.

Dave, That is a great, great site!!! I enjoyed it myself, but the best part is, I sent it to two friends of mine who are "real" carpenters and enjoy building stuff with and own some old pieces of this sort of equipment. Thanks. Brian G.

Your welcome. I am a long time wood worker and love my tools. Some of those oldies are like the old tractors. You just can't get that kind of equipment for the price new. Glad you enjoyed it.
