Jim in Missouri we go to the county health department for specs. and perments. We are not zoned in my county but you must have an inspected sewer.(I think the fine is 1500.

Pretty much nothing is legal anywhere any more but a proffessionally installed unit to local & state codes. Seepage pit will need to be done away with, can't think of any state that is allowed in any more. Some states are extremely restrictive.

You may know this & are looking for help to do it yourself without a lot of questions being asked.

In that case, size of drain field depends on soil perk (you got solid clay, or solid sand?) and size of house (or number of people using it). Too variable to state a one-size-fits-all deal. Three runs of 30' of 4" perf 20' apart might be a jumping off point?

Jim,

In our area (C. IL), all the information is available from the health department, who also requires information from you as to soil perc, family size, etc. in order to properly size the field.

Good luck!

Ron

P.S.--Most plumbers cam also supply you with the info.
