I've been looking at Northern's China Tractor they have listed thier catalog. Has anyone seen one of these tractors, other then the picture in the catalog? What did you think? Who makes the KN2100/385 engine? I found out you can buy extended warranties on these tractors. I can get a 25 HP tractor with loader, post hole auger, 5' rough cut mower, 5' blade, 60" tiller, 5' landscape rake, and 60" cultivator for about 12 grand. I have no idea what Northern would charge for shipping. I'm still tossing around the idea if it would be a good/smart buy.

Bob:

Keep this in mind..."Good thing no cheap and cheap thing no good".

Apply the money to a deposit on a decent machine that you can get parts for...New Holland, Kubota, Deere.

Bob, Aside from the need for a cheap tractor remember that any money generated by the sale of one of those tractors goes to "Red Chiense Army". It is still a communist country with on private businesses to deal with.

I just saw their flier 2 days ago. No experience with them, but:

The Chineese tractors are where Japan was 30 years ago - rusty, leaky junk. I'm sure some day they will be producing top notch stuff, & pushing Japan out of it's current domination. But right now, this moment, they are more interested in selling volume junk with poor castings & leaks than in trying to make quality stuff.

I'd hang on another 20 years before getting excited about their products.

In general, the Chinese tractors are very crude ( on par with the average Chinese tool you can buy from places like Harbor Freight; I'm not really knocking the Chinese...I own a fair number of Chinese tools). You might want to look at Kioti tractors; they're made in Korea with technology on license from Kubota. Not bad little tractors.

I have been on just one Chinese tractor. I don't know what brand it was. It had front wheel assist. It looked to be about 100 hp. or so. It had been painted a JD green and they pretty much painted over everything that wasn't glass. The pedals and levers were not placed conveniently. The tractor is not designed for comfort. The price was $6000, I think. Had it been an American or Japanese tractor, it would have been a great bargain. I just couldn't do it. Where and how are you going to get parts? The simplest little thing could shut you down for months.
