Right Angle Drill Adapter

I was looking at a right angle adapter for 1/4 and 3/8" drill. It is made by Vermont America. Are they worth th $29. Do they really work. Thanks

SOme of those are good for what they are intended. Beware of the plastic case and gear jobs as they will not hold up in extreme use.

Steve,

I bought a right angle drill adapter for my 3/8" drill a while back. It wasn't a Vermont American, but it was priced about $25.00. The adapter worked wonderfully on some metal duct work that I was installing on a new central heat/air system that I installed in my old farmhouse.

Like a fool, I then used it to drill holes in some studs that I was running electrical wires through. It worked great on a bunch of holes, but then my speed bore caught in one of the holes and stripped the gears inside the adapter. I contacted the manufacturer and it would have cost more for parts and shipping that it would to buy a new one.

Since I didn't have a specific need for it, I didn't replace it, but if I needed to do some more light work at a right angle, I'd buy another one in a heart beat.

Steve, I think Sears still sell the angle adapters for 3/8" drills they maybe in their tool catalog. It's been a while I think I paid $20.00 for it works reasonable well. If its something you going to use every day you may want to consider a good angleheaded drill. Dave F.
