Lincoln or Hobart?

I have been shopping 110 volt MIG welders for awhile and have finally narrowed my search down to either the Lincoln Weld-Pak 3200 HD or the Hobart Handler 135.

They both seem nearly identical in specs, the Hobart is $449.99 from Northern Tool (my local Harbor Frieght has them, have not checked the price) and the Linclon is $437- from Home Depot.

What to do???

Watch Tractor Supply for sales. Got my Hobart 135 w/ an auto-darkening hood for $400.

I would strongly recomend the Hobart. I bought one, and am glad I got it over the lincoln.

Hobart comes with the gas adaptor...found I hated flux core, and was glad I had it.

Hobart also seems to be a little heavier duty in this line than the Lincoln unit. I've also heard this from my welding supply which handles both. I'd strongly suggest the Hobart.

A lot of welding supply stores sell on Ebay.
Many of them maintain websites and 800 #'s in case you get jammed.

There has also been some dicussion about the products from the 'big box' stores being lesser quality or second line.

I bought my HH175 for $546. delivered from
BR Welding.

Lincoln if you want Italian made.
HoFart if you want Chinese components stuffed in a box by US workers.

I'd go with the Hobart. The little Lincolns don't really come into their own until the ProMIG or SP series.
