Need advice on purchase of Rotozip type router.

Thinking about getting one of those small hand held router type cutters. Have looked at several, Dewalt, Porter Cable, Craftsman, Rotozip. What is the best set up? I have heard that bits get expensive, and to always wear eye protection, any other tips? Units run from 3 amps up to 6 amps, more the better? Thanks for the help. Roger Allgood

I just bought the 10.? cordless dremel rotary tool. I have rotary cutter and base , which I had to buy separatly. Comments at "tool crib.com" sounded good. I'm presently on a job where I need to cut around 70 round light holes into vinyl soffit material. I think this tool will be the ticket. Haven't gotten to that point yet , but the time is getting closer. In my mind , I figured I would have a nice little dremel to add to my tool inventory. Hope I'm not disapointed.

I agree with Sears,I bought a Rotozip ,then bought the Craftsman because of the extras that came with it.

I've got a Rotozip, and like it. The single most importa0nt accessory is SAFETY GOGGLES! (or a face shield)

By the Craftsman because it comes with a router base and and other attachments and has a more convenient on-off switch.

I bought the RotoZip because it was made in USA.
Works good and I'm very happy with it. Don't know
if the new ones are still made in US, but that's
what iced it for me.

Rotozip is no more and has sold out to Bosch last year. They still use the rotozip name because they bought that also.
Do not know if Bosch is/will keep up with the Rotozip standards and made in USA.

Harbor Freight has their incarnation of one (Chicago Electric brand) for $19 in some of their sale catalogues. They come with both 1/8" and 1/4" collets. I bought one and am satisfied with it.

Yes I got one of the Harbour Freight el cheapo tools. Not used it too much so far, but am satisfied.

I got one of the Craftsman Multi tools on a whim, thinking it would be fun to play with. It turned out to be the cats' meow. I love it. Handyer then the devil. Mine came with the attachements. It is a fun, useful little tool.
