Moving 8' x 20' Chicken Coop

Would any of you gentlemen have any tips for trailering and moving a building? It has a roof, three sides and a sturdy floor. It also has three 4' x 6' runners on the bottom that go the length of the building. I have two of these to move as I will sandwich them together for a nice chicken area. All help will be greatly appreciated, Thank you

I had a 10 x14 moved this past summer. Fella estimated $400 to move it 5 miles. Told him go ahead, luckily he never came back. I got hold of a mennonite co. that builds storage buildings He said $100 for first hour and $50 each hour after that. As per his instructions, I put 2 more 4x6 runners under it max 6 feet outside to outside {trailer was 6' wide } fastened them on one end with 3"wide X 2' bent to an ell shape and had one end off the ground a foot when he came. I put my chains all the way around the building so he could haul it on the trailer. He came at 10 am on a sat had it loaded, delivered and unloaded 6miles away in forty five minutes. The chickens never complained, even tho it was there first ride.

First question that pops to mind is how far do you need to move them. Across yard or Across town??

First thing I would do is cross brace walls since it only has three sides.

Across yard..... I would use large fence post laid under runners and pulled with tractor. Keep moving post from back to front. Much more weight distribution on a long log than on a tire.

Across town... Use the wrecker or portable building mover like others say. Keep in mind the height when loaded. Anything over 13' 6' tall when loaded on truck needs a permit.

The easiest way would be to get a towing company witha rollback flat bed. They would just winch it on and dump off. Probably charge $100 or so. But if it were me and being very tight with my money. I would lift one end with loader and block up then back trailer under end the go around and push it on. If no loader or 3pt lift available a high lift farm jack and blocks to alternate sides would work then comealong it forward. good luck and be careful.

i had a shed moved. i had some of the local farmers that also run a garage with a wrecker service use their rollback truck to do it, the shed was light enough that they used their wench that they use for pulling cars. it depends on how far your going with it. better check on width/hight restrictions with your local road officals. also many of those guys that deliver those prefab buildings will do it for a price.
