I need a new saw, But theres one problem, I cant decide whether I want a new one or an older used saw. My llist consists of a Homelite 330 used, Stihl MS660 NEW Stihl 064 used. I plan to use the saw for general all around use in hard wood and would like some power to cut with. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me what an MS660 sells for at the dealer new with full wrap handles, a 28" bar, and heated handles. I know the Homelite is a lightweight saw and is a rather small one as well but I would like some opinions on its reliability/durability. A 064 or 066 is what I want for my main saw, not a backup unit, I've heard that the 064 had a dual port muffler as a stock part and would like confirmation of that. I'm sick of the cheap throw away saws like those newer homelites and poulans that are nearly ALL plastic, and I decided its time to get a better saw.

I don't know the MS660 but the 064 is alot more saw than the 330. Go to ebay and buy it cheap enough that you can afford to fix it a little. I have an older jonsered 630 with a 24" bar and I use 91 series low pro chain, with that chain it'll cut right up there along side an 066 stihl. I gave $100.

I got a used Husky a number of years back, cheap. Put a tuneup in it, new fuel line, and it has worked like a charm ever since. It is big though; shop said it could handle a 60" bar. I have a 24" bar on it.

I picked up a new Husky last year. It is commercial version, with a 14" bar. I use it for most stuff because it is light enad easy to handle for hours. It's thier "XP"' arborists saw.

The older Husky I got simply because it was a good deal. It works well, but is heavy. The new I got because we needed that style saw, we have a Husky dealer right around the corner who is real good, and it was cheaper than the Stihl. We do have other Stihl equipment though.
