I need to do some sand blasting on my tractor restoration buy my air compressor is not up to the task. However, I have 3 kinda crappy compressors that together would make enough air for the sand blaster.

Has anyone ever hooked several compressors together, and if so how did you do it?

Thanks, FeelingABitFlatTim

I ran two compressors together as needed, for some time before i got a "big enough" compressor.

I just took blk. pipe fittings, and used a T with a hose from two openings to each comp., and the third opening of the T went to the sander i was useing.

It worked, but it was a poor replacement for a better compressor!!

Not sure how large your compressers are, but when you use a constant air flow supplied by a compresser, the volume of air is the biggest deal. Most smaller compressers have real small air tanks. They have no volume. You will most likely trip the compresser on, just airing up a tire. A bigger air tank gives you the extra volume for constant air flow, but you need the extra bigger compressor to keep the larger tank full. You can hook the three smaller compressors together to compensate for the larger compresser, but that is just part of it. You also need the large tank for more volume of compressed air. Three small tanks on small compressers, probably won't allow for enough volume.

Sure you can. If they are all close to the same shut off pressure that would be even better but not needed. Here is the problem. You need to have enough power to run them all with out straining your electrical systems. Run one machine from the house and put a long hose on it to the shop. Not a good idea to run extention cords unless you have a 3/10 cord. Electric motors burn up real nice! Just put all of the outputs into a common manifold and go to it. I have a big reserve tank from an old truck air brake system mounted under a bench. Gives you a pretty long air run time. Jeff
