Can two 110 volt air compressors be wired on one pressure switch? Would I burn it up? Thanks, RT

Not sure why you would want to do this. Normally with two compressors, you set them up such that one comes on for normal air usage and the second one kicks in when the pressure drops a certain amount below the first like when sandblasting. Example: the first comes on at 95 PSI and the second, 85 PSI.

Also, in your scenario with having both compressors coming on at the same time, you are going to get an excessive starting current surge that will probably trip your breaker.

George, some times I come up with these fool butt ideas. But alot of good has come out of them and sometimes it don`t. Built a paint booth becuase I was tired of over spray getting all over everything. I have a big compressor in my main shop and used the 5hp 30 gal in the booth. well it quit on me yesterday. I also use it in the field when I need air with my generator. I was thinking of hooking the two together. I thought of taking a female end of a good extension cord and wire it to the pressure switch and plug the old compressor into it. Maybe I`m getting a little crazy in my old age. It was just an Idea. Thanks for your input, God bless, RT

don't go over the amp rating of the switch.the compressors should be marked for full load amps(FLA). you could use a D.P.D.T. switch which would give you 2 sets of contacts. If you don't understand, get a lisensed electrician who can spell better than me...mike

Iceman, so does that mean each compressor would have its own set of contacts? Where would I find one of these switches? Thanks, RT
