Hi: I am looking for some information on a Montgomery Ward Dwell-Tach/Volt-amp/points Meter. I picked this unit up at an auction everything seems to be there except the Instructions. Maybe someone has one ? The model is 9660 There is one cord that has three leads Black Red and Blue The other cord seems strange to me.. it has two leads red and black going to a metal strap with both leads Riveted on to it and is direct shorted There is also a 0.2Ohm Resitor that looks like it is made to attach to the metal plate. The selector switch has the following positions. Points, Volts, Amps,High rpm 0-8000,Low rpm 0-1200 and Dwell. Also has switches for 6/8 Cyl and 6/12 Volts. If you have any Info on this I would appreciate it.
I have several old tractors and this would be nice to use on them if I can figure out how to hook it up..

Thanks

Carol Martin

My guess - black, ground - red, battery - blue, negative side of coil. The other red/black leads sound like the ammeter leads with the resistor as the shunt that allows the ammeter to work.

Hermit is correct. i have the same machine but it is labeled as a Craftsman. I have never used the ammeter feature, only the tach.

yes, i do believe i have the instruction booklet. Unfortunatly, all of the stuff is not at my house right now (it's at my cabin) i will be able to get it in about 2 weeks though. can you wait that long, or are you in a hurry?

if your in a hurry, i can tell you how to use the tach and dwell, but i don't know anything about the ammeter.
