Old, I while back,if I recall right, you answered a post about pole barn posts, saying you use metal pipe instead.I figure I can just burn the bolt holes thru for the top 2X s,but how do you attach all the nailers? Thanks,Dave

Dave, I have just finished tearing down a pole barn to reuse the material. The complete frame was built from metal pipe, most of it was drill pipe. The 2Xs on the roof and side walls were attached with nails welded to the frame. Large nails were driven thru the 2X, adjacent to the pipe, then they were welded to the pipe. The building was very solid and sturdy. I used bolt cutters to cut the nails next to the pipe when disassembling. James

you can shoot wood to steel (or concrete) with a cartridge activated nail gun . very hard nails driven with blanks about like 22 cal. they can be rented . different powder charges to suit the job .

Well the one I built that way I used pipe for the uprights mobile home frame for the cross beams and angle iron for the metal soupports, I drilled holes in the metal and bolted it down. Would have welded it but all I have is a stick welder which is how its put togeather with. By the way its about 24X 50 and I only have around $200 in all the metal/bolts most of it was salvage from a storm a few years back. Now if you want to use some of my ideas you could bolt one the 2X4 or 6s and also bolt on the cross supports for the metal roof. I tried to get my wife to put a picture on my ugly shop on my web site but she hasn't done so yet. Check it out it does have a picture of parts of some of my other buildings.

The only ones I saw were the red toy dump on the shelf that you found at the dumps, and the extended length Mack? Several of the last pictures were taking forever to start loading, so I left. I'm looking to add more memory to the computer to try and speed it up.

Hey SlowPoke you shouldn't be putting down my old Diamond-T like that calling it a Mack. Thats as bad as calling a Chev a Ford. LOL. Any how the real truck is a 1963 Diamond-T 990. The toy dump truck is a 1923 Structo. Oh by the way SlowPoke your lucky that my wife can't reach you by way of the internet, because if she could you would not be able to sit down for a week because you called the Diamond-T a mack, I got that truck when I got her so its really her truck and she is very proud of it as I i'm also. But please don't take it wrong I always love to talk about, trucks tractors etc.

Thats ok SlowPoke just think you learned something new today, LOL. By the way in there day the Diamond-T was the truck to have. they made a KW or a Pete look like a ford or normal chev up to a Caddy. The Diamond-T was the Caddy of the trucks till the goverment screwed them and then they went under.
Didn't really mean any thing about what Isaid earlyer just wanted you to know.
So think about it this way you had a good day you learned something new. Well Slow have a good day/night. Old/Rich

The green truck on the shelf looked to be in real good shape. I wish I still had all toy trucks I played with as a kid.

Well when my dad picked up that older toy truck he told me to take good care of it, so I did. The books say its worth around $1500. The green one is only worth about $100.
My kids wanted to play with them and I told them sorry no they are worth to much to be toys any more, sad thing but true.
