I've been useing evans (now starrett "True Lock") tape measures for about 25 years now. After useing many other brands , these have been the most reliable , best feeling tapes I've ever used. Now , I'm talking about the 3/4" True-Lock tape measures. You can find 1" all over the place. But for the 3/4" Tru-Lock tapes , you must go to a Starrett distributor. Once you try a 3/4" x 16 foot Starrett True-Lock tape , you will not want anything else.

I have used nothing but Stanley for a couple of decades. They seem to last until the markings wear off. Rather than buy a new blade I simply replace it and keep the old one in another location where I might find measuring needed to be done.

I do wish I had a left hand model though rather than a right handed model. They would be much easier to use for this lefty.

I've been using a Stanley 35' Fat Max for two years now, and has proven to be a nice tape.
