I have been given a Craftsman leaf blower, that will not start. It has very weak appearing spark, so I want to gain access to ign coil, but cannot remove the hex nut/hub of the blower wheel. Does this nut have right or left hand thread? I suspect very fixed with Loctite.

I hope your luck is better than mine. I bought a used Craftsman leaf blower that ran OK for one year than got noisy at idle and finally got to running poorly then quit and would not start. I suspected the ignition had got out of time,so removed the crankshaft nut to remove the plastic blower wheel and flywheel. The blower wheel and flywheel were loose on the crankshaft. Stacking that plastic blower wheel and the flywheel under the same nut simply does not allow for enough clamping force to keep things tight. The drive splines on the blower wheel were nearly gone and the flywheel/crankshaft keyway was destroyed allowing the flywheel magneto magnets to get out of time. With that much damage,I junked the blower. I hope yours does not have the same problem.

Thanks for the advice. I looked it up on sears.com, they list no parts except a few housing parts. Its a disposable society we live in now.

Try JB Weld or similar epoxy material. Just be sure all is lined up before the stuff sets. If it works, great. If not, you're out a couple of $$
