husqvarna decompression button

i am thinking about buying a used husqvarna saw.
are there problems with the decompression valve ? why does stihl not use them ?

That button makes a WORLD of differance! Be careful if you need to pull back on the valve as some of them DO NOT like to have a twist done to them. Look for little spring clips on the side at the bottom of the assembily. When the saw starts they snap shut, and away you go. I have an older pioneer PM 100 saw that is 100cc, that's 6.1 hp and it has NO button. It is one BULL of a saw, but does it ever cut! As with almost any saw, go to a good saw seller/ service place and check things out.Go to Husky or Sthil web site and look up your local shop by Zip code. Most all of these folks have YEARS more know how than any of us could ever muster! Jeff

We use husky cut-off saws they all have them. I don't think the rope would last long without them because you can't hardly get them to turn over without using the comp release.

the only problem you may encounter would be that the button could get sticky as a result of carbon build-up throuh non-use,i.e.,, if you decide to push it in and it hasnt been used in awhile. And its no problem to pull it back out manually, just pull with a twisting motion.

MS 440 has them also. I think they start there and all of the bigger saws have them.

Stihl does use them on their larger saws. Most companies do. Don't sweat it.

I think that the decomp valve is standard on Stihl saws starting with the MS360 up to the 088.
