Has anybody had any experience with the Troy-Bilt lawnmowers. I know the tillers are supposed to be really good, but I haven't heard any comments about the mowers. Lowes' has them starting around $1199.00.

Any comments would be appreciated
Charles

Troybuilt was bought by MTD several years ago. They are about the same quality as the rest of the bunch now. They used to be good though, I have a 1970's tiller of theirs and it is big and heavy, not like the little thinks they sell now.

I have a walk behind trimmer, it is a piece of $hit. I have had it three years and it is just about ready for the dumpster, hard to start, cloggs up with grass to easily, shimmys all over, and rattles terribly....buy a simplicity or something else.

The only thing on them that is Troy-Bilt is the emblems. They are produced by who ever submitted the lowest bid for this batch of tractors. They are a cheap throw away lawn tractor with plastic pulleys, potmetal parts, thin stamped decks, same as a Yard Man,or Husky or Craftsman. They are hoping people buy into the name, and not look closely at the quality.

That's what I was afraid of Mike. I haven't looked at them closely yet. I saw them at Lowes the other evening and got to thinking about them.
I was thinking about getting a Deere but the money thing... I had a Murray from walmart that I bought 2 years ago but it was stolen this past fall when I was broke into. Thieves aren't the smartest people in the world. The Murray probably had a couple more seasons left in it, but I thought I would get a better mower that would hopefully last 10 years.

I would point you towards a good old fashioned JD brand product, They have been around for a long time and I have yet to hear a single bad thing about them.
