I will be buying a gooseneck trailer and hitch. The Uni-Goose looks like a good hitch design, with fast, easy ball removal and replacement. Does anyone know of any problems with these?

I would like to thank all for the comments. The trailer dealer that I am probably going to buy from sells B&W hitches. I looked at the B&W web site and it looks like a good product; simple and rugged, and leaves the bed free of obstruction.

The Uni Goose is a fine hitch. Keep it clean and remove the ball from the coupler often. Road grit in the coupler detent balls will cause problems. The mounting was fairly easy '03 dodge ton truck. No drilling. No obstuction in bed with ball removed.

I've got a B W W and I really like it. It's rated to 30,000 lbs. They also supply adapters that convert to 5th wheel hitches, king pin hitches, etc. The thing I lake best about it is it has no rails to stick up in the bed, so there aren't any limitations in using you P/U bed.

I have the same set-up for the same reasons... our camping trailer is 5th wheel, horse & utility trailers are goose neck. My set-up is rated to 25,000#. What I really like is when I remove the hitch plate (by pulling 4 pins in the bed of the truck) the bed is wide open... except for the rails running across the bed (they stick up 3/4")... but a rubber stall mat cut to fit between the rails levels everything nicely and insures I don't beat the heck out of my bed while carrying cargo and keeps cargo from sliding around!

I have the Una goose hitch in my Dodge, I like it. Been in for eight years. Just keep the ball socket lubed and you are fine.

Never heard of 'em. The popular brand in my area is the B & W "Hide-a-ball". They fit like a glove, and don't require ANY drilling or welding. They use exsisting holes in the frame. VERY well built unit. You can buy 'em for around $290 cash and carry. They sell for around $450 installed, here in the Louisville area. John

After a while of heavy pulling the B&W will get a little loose which feels like alot when stopping or starting. And if it ice or snow it will freeze up and you have to crawl under truck to bust it loose!! Just one opinion.

I got 2 unigoose hitches one in a 97 dodge and one in a 2003 ford it was easier to put in the dodge but not real bad in the ford they have had heavy use almost daily and don't come loose but to remove the ball it is quicker if you keep the sand and grit out of them but even then just tap it on the bottem side of the ball with a hammer or blow it out with air once in a while I have never had one stick tight
