I have to do a 3 page paper on Moving Contact Arc Welding and so far I've come up with one article from TWI. I've got a lot of search results for MCAW, but it's the wrong one (Metal Core Arc Welding). After reading your post on FCAW the other day I was wondering if you have any information on this topic that you would be willing to share. Thanks

Bill

I'll extend my search to resistance welding and see what that pulls up. Thanks for looking

Bill

Hi Bill,

Nope, never heard of it. Looks to be a specialized process probably well suited to hazardous enviroments or inaccessable weldments. Makes me wonder how much the consumables cost?

Like gspig said it's a resistive welding process thats been for many moons and works well in the produtction enviroment without using consumables for some types processes. Alot of round/square tubing is made with resistive welding without consumables.

Sorry I couldn't help more.

Have you looked in resistance welding techniques? Seems to me I remember in spot welding, a technique that used roller contacts to weld long seams in sheetmetal.
