Have a shifter that is "loosey goosey" because the bolt slot in the shifter is too large and the seat in the transmission cover that the shifter ball rests in has worn excessively. Do you think J-B Weld might work after grinding to size or would I have to get it brazed? This is in a 1936 Silver King highway mower tractor. Thanks, Frank.

j/b weld is a good quick fix epoxy, if you got the cover off. take it in and get it welded simple fix. knew this guy who use to use to fix oil pump screens with it. never had any problems not sure on objects that are not stationary, vibration over a giving lengh of time ect..
