Pole Barn Ridge Vents

Appreciate any feedback on your experience with ridge vents in Pole Barns used for machine repair and storage.

Builder is recommending two 10' Plyco FMW100-35 low profile ridge ventilators with a 3 1/2" throat with a translucent fiberglass rain diverter that allows natural light to enter on a 60' x 40'.

I put 10 footers every 10 feet. It works real good--lets out the ehaust smoke and summer heat. The building is open the whole length of one side and I'll tell you I was worried when ISABELL came through but the building didn't move. I think two things contributed 1) the open side faces the trees (about 150 feet away) and 2) the vents relieved the pressure inside. Oh the building is 138 X 40 X 15 high; with 30 feet closed up for a shop.
I don't think the translucent vents will provide much light. Remember when you really need the light--night. During the day if you have doors open them. I find that even with the open side I need the lights on and a drop light sometimes. I.E. save your money just get the standard vents.

Ridge vents have worked good in our case.But we ran them the entire lenth.But I am not a contractor or an expert on them. I just put them in as an alternative to gable vents and soffit vents.Less labor,I was the labor.
