Gentlemen I see several different types of proximity tachs and timing devices for 2 cylinder engines available and need advice on the ones best suited for this at a reasonable cost. Thanks in advance�.

You can get watch battery operated LCD multi-cylinder selectable tachometers that just wrap an antenna like sensor wire around any sparkie wire $20 JCWhitney, etc..... ...Dell

Bob, I have found that a hand held mechanical tach is real handy on these old two cylinders. You don't have to worry about whether it's 6 or 12 volt and you can check the crank speed and PTO speed easily. I use mine a lot checking idle and WOT speed.

The lettered and 1st numbered gas/all-fuel distributers ran at crank speed. A four cylinder tach works fine.
