how about a lightweight rollerchain sprocket. hub to fit the shaft you have, then drill through the sprocker for bolts to your plastic. some sprockets are sold with seperate hubs of various bores that you weld to the off the shelf sprockets. i think grainger has the weld on hubs for various tooth count sprockets, but i think msc also has them.

Just take your tape measure and notebook to the nearest home center and measure one up for size. I just finshed a solar powered clothes dryer for my wife by copying her mothers. Had to prove that wire welder and new chop saw were worth the investment.

I'm really interested in that solar clothes dryer. The only ones I have seen are two poles with two lines strung between them.It works good but I am looking for somthing better. You got any plans? How does it work?

This is the single pole whirygig type clothes line. It's 6'x6' square - lines are spaced 6" apart made from salvaged chain link top rail pipe. nothing fancy for bearings, just a slip fit that I lubed real good. WE can get a lot of laundry on it at one time.

We have a regular Two T post 3 wire set up we use as much as we can(Weather allowing) I am always looking for better ways to use "alternative energy".Anything that saves money and helps with being self suffiecient almost "off-grid" I am interested in.I haven't cut out my light bill yet but I am dreaming of the day I can.(And keep the wife)

We heat with wood totally and my only utility bill is for the electric well pump, water heater, range, refrigerator and lights runs around $80.00 a month. Here in sunny southern Arizona ole sol gives us plenty. I looked into solar collectors and batteries for 12v lights but didn't think I could recoup the cost soon enough. Although the stuff is getting cheaper.
