Some are just cut off, I think some with the multiple holes may be reuseable. You need a special tool to replace the bands, about $15.

The clamps are called Oetiker clamps. The recommended way to remove them is by twisting the crimped area until it breaks and use a new one. The is a tool that is basically a pair of pincers that crimp the new ones. There should always be a gap in the crimped area. If not the clamp is too big.

Your local parts dealer should have these pliers. It is a good idea to continue useing those clamps as the continue to self tighten on healthy hoses. However I don't always practice what I preach.

I seen them clamps but the biggest i saw was for maybe a 1/2" or less hose. Thinks they used to use them on gas lines/filters when they only needed 7 pounds pressure, but new fuel injected cars have upward to 30 pounds of pressure.

I have been a fuel system engineer for 22 yrs. You will separate the hose before the Oetiker clamp lets go. Current nylon hose lets go at 700-800 psi
