I have a ford 1953 golden jubilee and I put new brake pads on it last spring. The brakes worked fine all summer and into the fall then all of sudden the right tire would just lock up on me. It dosn't lock up when I go in reverse. I tore the brakes back apart thinking a spring was broke but everything looks fine. Could the spring be just weak or could there be a different problem.I was wondering before I start buying parts.
thank you for any information. Mike in WNY

Did you replace the flex hose, hardware and use the proper lub. when you initially did the brake job.

check and see if you have a leaking axle seal.just a bit of grease on the brake shoe will cause if to grab.good luck.

I agree with Charlie.Even a small axle seal leak or wheel cylinder leak will cause the brakes to grab.

Its like Charlie said in the begining, but later on the brakes won't hold at all. You have got to pull the axle, then cut the retainer sleeve, and remove or cut the beering race off then install a new seal. The good old boys and red necks don't do this, when they refurbish one for resale, because of the cost and labor involved. goofus
