Plasma Cutter hookup

Can a plasma cutter and air compressor be used on the same 220V circuit? The cutter will be using the air from the compressor, so they both will be running at the same time. I know the draw for the compressor, I don't know he amp requirements for a small plasma cutter.

Anyone who can afford a plasma cutter can afford to do it right. Spring for another breaker, you'll be glad you did. Ed

I'll take that bet...

I used to run both on the same breaker...but was careful and watched my compressor pressure... when I got down close to the restart pressure I wouldn't start a cut... the start up current on the compressor would get me... the running current draw on the compressor and the running current on the cutter would never kick the 40 amp breaker.. that's with a 5hp motor on the compressor and a plasmark cutter cutting 3/16 material..

btw... I've since moved the plasma cutter/welder outlet to a seperate breaker to do away with the problem
