homelite saw starts but no power

saw starts but has no power, also blows fuel out of the air filter. I was told it was the reed valves in the carb. but I just put a new carb. on it and nothing changed. what can I try now? Thanks Lee

CHECK THE FEUL TANK VENT IF IT IS PLUGED UP I CAN CAUSE THE SAW TORUN LIKE THAT

The reed valves are located inside the intake manifold of the crankcase housing.

Sounds like it is a broken or blocked reed if you have gas being blown back thru the carb.

What Homelite model?

The older Homelites manufactured in Port Chester, NY were reed valve saws. The Az3300 model is a late 90's offshore design and may be piston ported (no reed plates).

Rings or timing may be bad as the cylinder pressure should not be blowing back out the carb.

I have one that has done that twice. Both times the exhaust screen was carboned up almost completely closed. I cleaned it and it runs like new again.
