my 4 cylinfer 9n was sort of stalling out, revving up, stallong out. i let it cool down. started right up, then it abruptly shut down. new points, plugs, condensor, sediment bowl, reconditioned tank, 3/4 -1/2 full of gas, and i put a quart of marvel mystery oil in it today after removing one quart to keep the oil level up. ran great all day yesterday. and all morning today. just started doing this. i did notice that a caterpillar was in the funnel when i filled the tank, and it slipped in to the tank. that was yesterday when i filled the tank. what could be the problem? the catrerpillar plugging up the fuel filter? or something else. I set the gap and installed the coil two days ago too.

Get a flashlight and peek into the gas tank to see if you can find the caterpillar, could be stuck somewhere between the tank and the sediment bowl. If it isn't now, it probably will be sooner or later.

As far as the spark, I'd suspect the condensor first. Just because it's new doesn't mean it's good, they have a fairly high defect rate.

now it won't start at all after shutting down by itself. the radiator was full up too. i have a new thermostat, but the fluid didn't seemd to be circulating?? it was at the level in the radiator collar when i filled it up.

no spark to the plugs. no blue spark, or any spark when grounding the plugs. if i have the wrong wire on the ammeter positive side, would that make a difference. did i fry my coil again, like i did the other day when i left my ignition switch on and shorted my wires to the alternator on the block. i replaced the ammeter, coil, and points then.
