I would like to buy a slidding dual compond miter saw. I really like the Dewalts but the Ridgids like the same. Witch one is better. THANKS

I did a bunch of research and went with the Makita LS1212, which is a 12" sliding miter saw. This is regarded as the best on the market. I got mine from Timberline woodworks for $608 delivered, including the makita free drill rebate (which is now expired). Do a search on ebay for LS1212

If you don't need the 12" blade, get a makita LS1013 for a couple hundred less. This saw always gets rave reviews.

The weak spot on the dewalts seems to be the motors.

I bought a new dewalt from sears three years age. Took it out of the box, cut one piece of 2X2 angle and it worked great. Made the second cut and smoked the motor, did not crowd it. I took it back, got a refund, went to the local Acme Electric and got a Milwaukee, been used hard since. No problems so far.

I have a Dewalt and it's great. I did a lot of reading reviews and comparison shopping before I bought it and the only criticism I heard was that they had to be aligned before using them. Mine was perfectly aligned out of the box. By the way, it's built tough. It will build your aunt a tea table, but it will also build the house around it.
