It won't be used too much, but I'd like to run a 1/2" impact wrench, etc. It won't be used too much.

Thanks in advance.

It's not an answere to your question but...
The same compressor with the Porter Cable badges on it might be less, nothern tool had one for $180, compare specs to see if it is the same unit or not.

I have not sean any pancake compressor that would keep up with an air tool. Nail guns are great. Air tools NO!

A pancake is NOT going to run a 1/2" impact.
Most impacts need over 4cfm to work at 90 psi check yours.
While some pancakes put out close to 4cfm it is at 60psi. At 90psi they fall to around 2cfm.
Pancakes are great for small air jobs like air nailers but do not have the tank capasity to keep up with a large air user.
The best reason for having a pancake is when your sister/brother want to borrow your nail gun you do not have to lug your large compressor to their house.hehehe!!!

Never had any experience with those types of compressors. The Lowe's that just opened up here in Clovis has a nice 28 Gallon upright Campbell Hausfeld for sale. I don't have a place to put it at right now, but as soon as I do I plan to purchase it. It's a 110 volt 1 1/2 hp motor and it's on wheels so it can be manuvered easily. Would rather have a commercial shop type but don't think that the "need" would ever come close to equaling the "want." "Santa" brought me a gift card from there but still haven't decided how I am going to spend it. Suggested that we use it for some new cabinets for the bathrooms but she told me that it wasn't for that but for my "toys" instead. Not sure what I am going to use it to purchase yet.

later days mates,
Jim

They are fine for small volume jobs such as airing up tires and stuff. The quality is there. Have had mine for 10 years with no problems. My impact wrench will barely take off a lug nut from my car though. Runs out of air quickly.

IHC RED,; Have both kinds,(Sears)Pancake great for nail guns, and any thing that don't take much air, I use mine to blow out short water lines, as I can transport it on the 4-trac. But for over all use would go with one with about a 20 gal air tank, 1 to 2 HP engine, 110 Volts.

I never owned one, they work OK for nailers and such, but an impact, I am wondering about volume? Seems devilbiss used to make them for sears.

Why in the world would you want to compress a pancake?

If you're having to compress your pancakes, it's an indication that your batter has too much leavening agent. I would suggest reducing the amount of baking powder or soda.

Seriously, I'm not too familiar with Sears compressors. I hope someone can answer your question.
