can anyone give me any suggestions as to what brand or type is best to use?? easy to install etc. going to put on chevy pickup

I would say what you buy depends alot on the age of your vehicile, wether or not it's under warranty and how comfortable you are with wiring and electricity. I put one in an older vehicile, a 91 Prism. Bought an inexpensive unit, with install kit (nice option). The unit was made by Bulldog Security. Did have a problem, but worked with their techs (free phone call) and found out that I was gettting an electrical feedback from my brake light switch. They said I would need a relay, they snet me the relay no cost and instructions for wiring it. Unit has been working great ever since.

I checked with my dealer about putting one on my new Chevy..they told me they do not offer one (except on the Malibu) and if I have one installed it will void my warranty. They also said they have had quite a few come in with very messed up electrical systems due to remote starters, one cost over $1000 to repair!

As AL2 sez, get a Top grade system. If it is a relatively new truck, I would let a pro install it as it can be a can of worms. You might also check with a dealer and see what they recommend.
I'm not much for any splicing on newer veh's wiring systems.

Over the past few years I have had a couple of Viper Remote Starters and would recommend them. I don't have any experience with any other makes. I would suggest a high end product and have it installed by an experienced installer. Check with local auto dealerships to see who they use.
