How to remove a Delta drill chuck

I have a Delta DW953 adjustable clutch cordless drill with a worthless keyless chuck on it. Its impossible to tighten the chuck enough to keep the bit from slipping. I would like to replace the chuck but can't figure out how to get the chuck off. There is a torx screw in the center bottom of the chuck that I have taken out. Now how does the chuck come off. Help please. Robert

Robert, we all have problems with bits slipping its very aggravating at times, but it can prevent serious injury also. Like when the bit hangs (jams) at the break through point, a drill can get very mean, breaking arms, and slapping everything in the area. Try tighten the chuck in all three holes every time you use a bit.(some chucks have four) alvinnms

Chuck up the biggest allen wrench it will hold, tap the wrench with a hammer. I always removed them this way.

I have never removed a drill chuck on this type drill motor but all the chucks that I have delt with, have a right hand thread. The screw in the center prevents the chuck from un-screwing when the chuck is turning counter-clockwise or reverse. If the drill motor is not strong enough to unscrew itself, you may have to use a small pipewrench and tap the handle with a hammer to remove the chuck. The sudden shock should break the chuck loose.
