I have been offered some premixed marine gas that has been mixed for about a year, would it be wise to burn this gas in a V 8 truck engine that is only used on our property. What would the downside of doing this. Also when is gas to old to use. Thanks

Up to 10% of this mixture is fine in a Diesel engine. I use up my weedeater mix at the end of the season and older chain saw mix this way. Have experienced no problem at all.

I have gotten rid of my old boat gas this way every spring I can remember. You leave the gas in to prevent condensation all winter, then in the old truck it goes come spring! I have gotten rid of two year old snowmobile gas this way too.

I have had to run chainsaw gas in pickups in a bind and it never hurt the cat convertor or o2 sensor. Boat gas would be mixed at 50/1 to 100/1 and saw gas would be anywhere from 16/1 to 40/1 it shouldn't hurt. If the truck is carburated and no cat convertor I know it wont bother it.It might even help it. I always use a gallon of saw gas in the combine before I park it for the winter, the oil keeps the fuel pump and carb from gumming up .I'd say it is as good as sta bil treatment.

If the truck has a cat. conv. I would say dont use it, also if it has an in tank fuel pump and truck is not used much, I would advise against using it. Those type pumps dont like much of anything but plain old gasoline. Would be OK if you rationed it and had plenty of fresh gas mixed with it.

i wouldn't think there would be any harm done. As long you didn't run it straight.

My dad used to add 2 quarts of 30wt oil to the gas of the JD 60's and 70 when we used them to do the plowing. My guess was just getting some upper cylinder lubricant for the heavy pulling.

That much oil would induce knock form lowering the fuel octane. And load the plugs with ash. Two stroke oil burned wiht less soot. Crankcase oil isn't supposed to be burned.

If the truck does not have a catalytic converter it should'nt hurt to mix it with your pump fuel. I usually put my 2 cycle mix in my 8n at a 1:10 ratio at the end of the summer.
