Rivett lathe tailstock live-center

I need to find a live-center for the tailstock of our schools #608 Rivett lathe. They used a three degree included angle for the taper instead of a more common Morse taper. Anyone have any leads for me? I'd really appreciate any info at all!! efrey

Hi,
I have a Rivett 608 in storage that I'm looking for a manual for. I am currently overseas and cannot access the machine. I found a manual for a Rivett 608-PV for sale, but don't know what the "PV" stands for. My Rivett is a late model one on the metal stand. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mac

hi mac, the PV means v pulley and a PC is for cone pulley. i need a tail stock for my 608 if you hear of one. thanks, wally

MT is about 3 deg included angle .MT's are
not all the same varying .5986 to .6256 per ft.
5/8 per ft converts to 2 deg-59 min-3 sec. I guess the real question is what is the dia
of the hole in the large end of the tail stock spindle ? I have a set of MT reamers that goes from #1 to #5 . Either I can send you the reamer or you send me the spindle and I'll do it , that way you can get the tooling you need.

Must be a Brown&Sharpe or a Jarno Taper. Not common now, but should be some on ebay..... .Rivett made some nice lathes

Maybe it would be a good class project to make one. Machine taper, bearing housing etc., and hardend and temper the nose.

Ever thought of maybe machining the tail stock to take the morse taper since most of the tools for tail stocks are for morse tapers anyway. Just an ideal.

yes,I agree with Kraig,chuck the apropriate morse taper reamer in the headstock and put in lowest gear.slide tailstock up to reamer,clamp,then use the tailstock feed wheel to feed into the reamer.
