That is a zinc based alloy that has been around since WWII. It is manufactured to Mil Specs. Our is anyway. My equivalent is what we call #328. It does a great job on things like stripped intake manifold bolt holes, weep holes in quadrajet carbs, Al lines, Al radiators, leaky jon boat rivets, just about any thin Al application. It works on potmetal, brass and copper too. It has a bond temp that's pretty close to being on the fence between brazing and soldering. The deposit is harder than Al which works out very well when repairing a line that "rubbed thru". We usually demo it on a hole in the bottom of a soda can with a good quality butane torch like the one featured on our site. There is some good info on it there, listed under aluminum on the home page. There are links to the torch as well. A bit of commercialism too. Well, it is what we do for a living. http://www.usalloysweldtech.com Steve
