OT : Pictures covering words

On some sites I visit, photos in an article will be placed over the words, covering an area of one or two paragraphs. I also get several sentenses overprinted two or three places in the article. One place in particular is the F-I-T site on electrolysis.
Is it my computer that is the cause of the problem or the sites?? Any fixes I can do?
I have an emachines T1150 with Windows XP.

I don't have a clue but would it be in your display settings? Too small viewing area forcing words into the pictures? Desktop area or screen resolution setting i think??

I don't have that problem so I'm not sure what's happening. It's worth a shot.

I don't have any problems with that site, using Win98 and Netscape 4.79, but I have seen several sites that aren't compatible with Netscape. The problem is that the site is written in HTML using some extensions that are not supported by Netscape. They were probably created using FrontPage from Microsoft, as Microsoft quite often does things like that.

I opened this link with both Netscape and Explorer with no problems. I have a Compac 1.6 Ghz with Windows XP I'm not sure of the model # but it's a couple of years old. I'm not computer expert, but it would seem to me that this is a software problem. Have you called E-machines customer support and asked them to help?

Sure hope you find out and let the rest of us know. I have a e-machine T1120 with Windows XP. I have had the same problem at Franks site. I have even e-mailed Frank and asked him about it and he told me his daughter did his web page and he would have her check it. But there is no differance so I just thought it was me. Now I do not know.
I guess what we need is some one with a differant set up to check to see if they have problems also. I have added a link. Can you tell us if pictures are on top of words.

I am running Windows 98SE and Internet Explorer version 6. I went to the F-I-T site and did find the pictures overlapping the words. I then changed the Text Size to "smallest" in the "View" menu and that seemed to fix the problem. Hope this helps...

Dan S,----You found the answer!! I tried all the type sizes and "medium" is the largest size that can be used without overlaping occuring.
As far as I know, the type size was set at maximum when XP was installed at the factory or where ever the software is installed.
But I would like to know how you knew that the problem was related to type size. I had no idea what caused it. Now I can try the F-I-T method of rust removal.
I hope the fix works for all the others who had the same trouble.

What browser are you using? I normally use Netscape, and have had that problem from time to time. If I switch to Internet explorer, the same sites usually come up correctly.

Harold, what computer are you using?
It seems related to the brand of machine and not the browser.
From the few replies to my question, it looks like Compaq users don't have the problem but users of emachines and Dell do, with both Netscape and Windows Exp.
If others will post their experience with "overlays", and machine brand and browser(s),
we may be able to narrow it down. I'll ask emachines for an answer.
