bill, i sure didn't want to get into following a log truck too close(to close to home)ok use good bar oil, turn the adjustment up all the way that controls the flow of oil,,if your not using enough oil you may need to cleanout your oil tank with gas a couple of times to get sawdust out of the tank(as a rinse)n ot as a lube...if your clutch spocket is worn, then it will play havic with the chain, if your using cheap chain BUT the number one reason a chain expands is that its DULL (it gets hot and expands) lets see, good chain, good bar(grove clean) saw is oiling good & good bar oil, new sproket, sharp chain should adjust chain maybe every 3rd tank of fuel ps make sure the oil hole in the bar lines up with the oiler groove on the saw, also don't over tighten the chain, it should snap backto the bar & should turn by hand with the saw not running . hope this wasn't too much but nothing like a saw that works right..ode indiana timber cutter

I bought a new 034 about 10 years age and had a similar problem. The chain would get too tight to move in the bar. After adjusting several times, I discovered the chain was moving up on the bar. The dealer said that the groove in the bar was cut too deep and saw dust was filling it up. He contacted the service rep. and the factory recommended that their dealers EPOXY the groove to the correct depth because all the bars, that fit this saw, were defective. Can you believe that!! I did not agree with this and he said that he would give me a full refund if I was not satisfied. All this happened the same day I bought the saw. I had no problem with this dealer but was surprised that the factory rep suggested this repair! I took the money and bought a Husqvarna 40 for less money and have had no problems in the 10 years I have owned it.
