I was looking at the 8 gallon emglo wheelbarrow compressors. I believe it was a 1.5 horse motor, cast iron twin cylinder pump turning 900 rpms and making 6.? cfm at 100 psi. Now how does the pump compare to my all iron campbell hausfeld twin cylinder pump turning 900 rpms, makin 5.? cfm?? How does the emglo make those few more cfms with what looks like the same size pump motor, and rpms??

Thanks roger!! chris

It might be that the Emglo is a bit more efficient than the CH because the Emglo uses disc valves which seal better than the CH's reed valves. Reed valves almost always sit a bit off their seats and require some air pressure to seal, or they leak a little. Could be they do not measure output in exactly the same way either. I wouldn't worry too much about it as you will probably never be able to tell the difference between them anyway in daily use. The Emglo might displace a few more cubic inches also. Rule of thumb is 4 X HP = CFM @ 100psi, so the Emglo is dead-on at 6cfm. A well maintained CH with a clean air filter will make more air than a neglected Emglo with bondo dust clogging the intake filter. The Emglo pump is a much stronger design though, which is reflected in the price.
