Has anyone here tried out the warranty on these? I've been carrying a Leatherman for close to 10 years, now. As a matter of fact, I've worn out 2 of them. After buying my third one, I decided to see if I could get the older ones reconditioned. I boxed them up and sent them off, and in less than 2 weeks, I got a package from Leatherman. Inside was 2 brand spanking new tools, not rebuilt. The tools are warranted for 25 years, but, they didn't even ask for proof of purchase. I guess you could call me a very satisfied customer.

yes,bought my supertool through U.S.Calvery.
woreout the file and a saw.
sent it back,insured got it back 3 weeks later with a new file/saw and they upgraded the wire cutter on the pliers.
the 25 yr warrarnty is nice but SOG and gerber offer LIFETIME

Gosh...I must be old fashioned, I have carried a TL-29 type military issue knife either in the wooden or plastic handle or the Navy stainless steel version for over 35 years now...along with a six inch crescent type wrench. I would venture to say they have saved me a thousand miles of tool chasing...not counting the time. 'Ol brother Cork gave me one of the chinese knock offs that are similar to the ones you are referring to. I think it needs maintenance before I use it. I threw it in the truck. Maybe I'm missing something by not having one of the good ones...(some of the friends say that their going to bury me with these in my pockets)...must keep an open mind. Fred OH

Yep someone gave me one of the Chinese wannabees a few years ago.It might be laying around here somewhere, but it's not worth hunting for. If you can get your hands on one of the real Leatherman tools, you'll never be without one.

I have both the Leatherman, and the Gerber Multi-Plier Tools. The Gerber that I have now was given to me by a friend after the Gerber that I did have got stolen. I agree, "don't leave home without it." The only thing that I didn't care alot for on the Gerber was you had to be careful when using the pliers. IF you weren't careful you pinched your hand. On any given trip to the sand box I would be willing to bet that the Leatherman and Gerber are the most used/abused tools during the deployment.

I have a mini-Leatherman around here somewhere that needs to be sent in for repair.

Several years ago I got a Gerber multi-tool for Christmas. I like it ten to one over the Leatherman. I warrantied it just a couple of months ago and it was no problem. The main thing I like about the Gerber is that you can open it and use the pliers with just one hand.

Great little tools no matter the brand.

Leatherman, an outstanding tool. I do not even go to church without my Super Tool. The wife carries her's with the scissors/ corkscrew etc in her purse everywhere too. Both get used on a regular basis and have saved the day many times. Gave one to a missionary friend in Yemen. Used all the time in a country where everything is crude and broken. Broke the saw blade in mine and they replaced it but didn't replace the main cutter. Don't blame them. It was abuse cutting something too hard not wear or a manufacture's fault.

I had my Leatherman Multi Tool warrentied once. They gave me a new one no questions asked. I've carried one for about 8 years. I very seldom leave home without it. I always have my Leatherman Micro in my pocket. I work at a grain elevator and it has saved me several trips up and down ladders.

Just out of curiosity, what wore out on them? I've carried mine since they first came out, and the only thing wrong is where the wife tried to cut a coat hanger and messed up the wire cutter beyonf hope. I've often thought about sending it in for warranty, but didn't want to be without it.

Both of mine were getting loose at the hinges. I broke one of the ends off the needlenose pliers, and I had worn out the file on both tools. One of these was a Super Tool, and the blade lock did not work on the side I used most. I carried these tools every day, and used them several times a day. They did not have an easy life. No telling how many steps they saved, by being right there by my side, instead if my having to run to the toolbox to find tools.

I am on my third upgrade, now the "Wave" and I really admire the improvements in design. I have used the warranty as I live in the Portland area. Best price I have seen is Costco, or Bimart on sale.
